We’ve made an impact on hundreds of United Church communities across the country

Since its inception in 2018, Faithful Footprints has engaged with more than 500 United Church congregations, camps, and outreach ministries. As of September 2024, more than 200 have completed their green building projects. Explore our impact:

Environmental Impact

Retrofitting United Church properties has reduced the environmental footprints for both communities of faith and their buildings. By enhancing the energy efficiency of our buildings and transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources, we have lowered our required energy demand and associated carbon footprint.

Economic Impact

Retrofitting United Church properties has reduced energy costs for communities of faith. By enhancing the energy efficiency of our buildings and transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources, we have lowered monthly utility bills and associated operational costs. Upgraded and renovated spaces generate additional income through rentals and energy sales to the grid, supporting sustainable economic growth for United Church communities.

Community Impact

Retrofitting United Church properties has created healthier, safer, and more welcoming spaces. Improved buildings support church services, community events, and expanded programming. By undertaking these projects, communities of faith have also raised awareness and sparked interest in climate action and greening initiatives.

The United Church of Canada’s Faithful Footprints Grants and Energy Data maps are online interactive maps that are designed to share insight into the energy efficiency and decarbonization efforts of congregations and other properties through the Faithful Footprints program. These maps are produced in collaboration with EDGE.
